A growing property management company located in Brooklyn, New York, overseeing 150-200 residential and commercial units across multiple properties, is looking for a skilled bookkeeper. The ideal candidate would have excellent math, written & verbal skills. This individual will work on strict confidential information.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the Bookkeeper will include:
• Manage the lease administration of the properties.
• Set up new leases in AppFolio, track security deposits, and record tenant collections.
• Keep precise tenant ledgers.
• Partner with property manager to ensure accuracy of journal entries across multiple properties.
• Assist property manager and asset manager with the accounts payable process.
• Assist with compliance related filings for New York City.
• Manage the 1099 process. Track W9 receipts from vendors and provide payment information to accountants.
• Ad Hoc projects.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, or similar field.
• 3+ years of experience in property management and accounting, or similar fields.
• Experienced with QuickBooks, AppFolio or Yardi, or another similar software.
• Advanced excel knowledge. Can perform complex functions.
• Accounts receivable and payable experience. The ability to maintain tenant ledgers, follow up with tenants and negotiate payment plans.
• Familiarity with New York City real estate regulations, reporting requirements and filings, and 1099s.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
