The Senior Estimator is a highly experienced professional responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for high voltage distribution, transmission, and substation projects under a Time & Equipment (T&E) model. This role emphasizes precision in labor and equipment forecasting, strong technical knowledge of high voltage work, and collaboration with project teams to ensure estimates align with client expectations and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of detailed T&E-based estimates for high voltage projects, focusing on labor hours, equipment utilization, and productivity factors.
- Review project scope, drawings, specifications, and client documentation to determine resource requirements.
- Collaborate with operations and field leadership to validate crew compositions, work methods, and production rates.
- Develop pricing strategies that reflect market conditions, resource availability, and project complexity.
- Maintain accurate records of historical cost data and productivity benchmarks to improve estimate accuracy.
- Participate in risk assessments, identifying potential cost drivers and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and internal standards for estimate documentation and reporting.
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvements within the estimating team.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of estimating experience in high voltage transmission or substation projects, preferably in a T&E or unit-price environment.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods for high voltage work, including productivity considerations.
- Proficiency in estimating tools (B2W preferred), Excel, and other relevant software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with field operations and project management teams.
- Familiarity with industry labor agreements and equipment cost structures.
Compensation: $120,000 - $135,000 annually (Compensation will depend on qualifications and experience.)
