Job Summary
The Assistant Principal plays a critical role in supporting the principal in the overall administration and management of the school, ensuring a positive learning environment for students and staff. This position involves supervising professional and administrative personnel and acting as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders. The Assistant Principal is responsible for enforcing school policies and regulations, implementing disciplinary measures when necessary, monitoring student attendance, and overseeing curriculum development activities. Additionally, they contribute to student admissions, dismissals, referrals, and retention processes.
Responsibilities
- Supports the principal in the overall administration and management of the school.
- Implement a vision for academic success, ensuring ambitious standards for all students in both in-person and online settings.
- Promote high staff morale by fostering positive work environment and encouraging collaboration and professional development.
- Enforce employee accountability through consistent monitoring, feedback, and support.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for staff, students, and families.
- Generate reports for attendance audits.
- Ensure that effective systems and processes are in place to optimize workflow and support the school mission.
- Contributes on the accreditation process to ensure the school meets and exceeds required standards.
- Provides support for all Cognia related tasks including academic areas and surveys.
- Handle updates or changes on the student handbook.
- Supervises Career Week and assist in planning post for social media.
- Contact parents, speak with students, complete incident reports and upload them to SIS and coordinate with law enforcement when necessary.
- Organize field trips, oversee merchandise and coordinate transportation.
- Monitor grades, ensure accurate recordkeeping and support teacher-student assignments.
- Lead back to school orientation, update presentation materials and ensure availability on the website.
- Manage registration, academics and jot form submissions including the HOPE program students.
- Prepare monthly meetings with staff to make sure that information is being communicated properly.
- Monitor student arrival and dismissal activities during morning and afternoon shifts.
- Comply with all company, federal, state and district safety and security requirements to ensure a safe and secure environment for students and staff. Lead the school management team in developing and implementing emergency procedures.
- Plan and execute the HOPE Program, including coordinating activities, managing resources, overseeing logistics and ensuring program goals and objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
- Performed other duties as assigned.
Experience
Earned master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree in education leadership/administration or related field required. Three (3) complete years of instructional experience at a school site. Three (3) complete years of school-site administrative experience or a combination of school-site and equivalent district experience.
Proven management experience within an educational setting, preferably in a leadership or administrative role:
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and budgeting within a school or university environment.
- Extensive background in education administration, including curriculum development and compliance oversight.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams, manage change, and drive continuous improvement.
- Prior university experience or teaching background is highly desirable for understanding higher education dynamics.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and fostering inclusive learning environments.
