As a Pharmacist In Charge you will:
- Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards.
- Supervise and direct pharmacy staff in key operational areas including scheduling, purchasing, and clinical responsibilities.
- Collaborate with pharmacy management to implement efficient daily operations and quality improvement or cost containment strategies.
- Provide clinical and technical support to pharmacy and regional staff, fostering a team-based care model.
- Respond promptly and accurately to pharmaceutical inquiries from customers and internal staff, interpreting clinical needs and providing expert advice.
- Maintain comprehensive patient records, including medical history, lab data, and concurrent medications (including OTC and alternative therapies).
- Accurately document all communications with healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers in the pharmacy system.
- Secure and maintain necessary documentation to ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and corporate policies.
- Enforce safe practices for the procurement, storage, distribution, and disposal of medications and biological products.
- Document all communications and clinical interventions in the patient’s medical record, including interactions with families and caregivers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the pharmacy team and patient care goals.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or equivalent)
- Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of practice
- Demonstrated pharmacy experience
- In-depth knowledge of pharmacy laws and both federal and state regulations related to long-term care
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical care practices for long-term care residents
- Proficiency in computer use, including pharmacy management systems
Desired:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy settings
