Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification and minimum 2+ years Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A highly skilled Registered First Assist professional is sought for a contract assignment at a surgical unit specializing in orthopedic, neurosurgical, and advanced trauma procedures. This opportunity is based in the Roanoke area and is ideal for candidates proficient in orthopedic surgery, Da Vinci robotic systems, neuro, and orthopedic trauma.

Location
Situated near Roanoke, VA, this position operates within a dedicated 10-bed main operating room unit at a well-established medical center. The medical center is recognized for its advanced surgical technology and comprehensive patient care systems. The vibrant community of Roanoke offers easy access to outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, and a moderate cost of living.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first assist services during a variety of complex surgical procedures including craniotomy, spine fusion, liver resection, Whipple procedures, and total joint replacements utilizing Mako technology.
  • Collaborate closely with circulating nurses and surgical technologists who maintain a 1:1 patient ratio in each OR room.
  • Utilize Meditech for accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Participate in a rotating call schedule covering weeknights and weekends with 10-hour shifts.
  • Adhere to strict OR protocols and maintain sterile techniques and compliance with unit-specific guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Licensed First Assist credential recognized by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in orthopedic procedures, Da Vinci robotic surgery, neuro, and orthopedic trauma.
  • Experience with advanced surgical equipment and techniques pertinent to a high-acuity OR environment.
  • Strong ability to work independently within a specialized surgical team setting.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and safety standards.
