Part-Time Traveling Optometrist (OD) – New Mexico

Location: Statewide NM (Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Farmington, Gallup, Taos, Las Cruces, Roswell)

Schedule: 2–6 weekdays per month (Wed/Thu/Fri)

Compensation: $900 per visit

Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

About The Opportunity

Comprehensive Mobile Care (CMC) is seeking a Part-Time Optometrist (OD) to deliver high-quality vision care across multiple New Mexico communities. This is a clinic-based role where you'll function as an extension of established outpatient teams serving senior populations.

If you're looking for meaningful, mission-driven work with schedule consistency — without the overhead of running your own practice — this opportunity offers flexibility, autonomy, and full administrative support.

Travel Expectations

This is a traveling optometrist role. Candidates must be comfortable driving up to 4 hours to assigned clinic locations, which may include some or all of the following regions:

  • Albuquerque

  • Santa Fe

  • Farmington

  • Gallup

  • Taos

  • Las Cruces

  • Roswell

The Setting

This opportunity operates within a community-based outpatient clinic model:

  • Full-time clinic staff on-site

  • Organized scheduling and patient flow

  • Coordinated, team-based care environment

  • Value-based model focused on seniors

CMC manages equipment, supplies, scheduling, and billing — allowing you to focus entirely on delivering high-quality vision care.

What You'll Do

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams and vision assessments

  • Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions within your scope

  • Prescribe corrective lenses and provide treatment recommendations

  • Collaborate with clinic staff as part of an integrated care team

  • Deliver patient-centered care in a structured outpatient setting

What Makes This Different

This is not a high-volume retail model.

Our optometrists are integrated into established clinic environments and represent CMC directly within each partner location. We emphasize:

  • Quality over volume

  • Consistency and predictability

  • Administrative and logistical support

  • Long-term clinic partnerships

  • Ethical, mission-driven healthcare delivery

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited program

  • Active New Mexico optometry license

  • Experience with senior populations preferred

  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills

  • Comfortable practicing in outpatient clinic environments

  • Willingness to travel up to 4 hours to assigned clinics

Schedule

  • 2–6 weekdays per month (Wednesday–Friday)

  • Typical hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

  • No nights

  • No weekends

  • No billing or administrative responsibilities

Comprehensive Mobile Care (CMC) is a family-founded healthcare organization with over 25 years of experience increasing access to care for senior and underserved communities across 20+ states.
