About the Organization & Community
Our facility has a rich history, being the oldest private psychiatric hospital in the United States, established in 1813 by the Quakers. They believed in treating all individuals, including those with mental health challenges, with kindness, dignity, and respect, fostering a "moral, ordered existence." Situated on a beautiful 100-acre garden campus in Philadelphia, we also serve as a teaching hospital affiliated with a local medical school.
