About the Role:
The Device Clinic RN plays a critical role in providing specialized nursing care focused on patients with implanted cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. This Part Time position involves comprehensive patient assessments, device interrogations, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal device function and patient safety. The RN will collaborate closely with cardiologists, device technicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Additionally, the role requires educating patients and their families about device management, lifestyle modifications, and symptom monitoring. Ultimately, the Device Clinic RN contributes to improving patient outcomes by ensuring effective device performance and timely clinical interventions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in cardiology or electrophysiology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, clinical assessment, and common cardiac devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Cardiac Electrophysiology or Cardiac Device Management (e.g., Certified Cardiac Device Specialist).
- Experience working in a cardiac device clinic, ICU or cardiac step down unit.
- Familiarity with remote monitoring technologies for cardiac devices.
- Excellent communication, organizational and patient education skills.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate device clinic operations in partnership with PaceMate
- Perform detailed assessments of patients with implanted cardiac devices, including reviewing device data and patient symptoms.
- Conduct device interrogations and troubleshoot any device-related issues in collaboration with cardiology specialists.
- Document clinical findings, device data, and patient interactions accurately in electronic health records.
- Educate patients and their families on device functionality, care instructions, and signs of potential complications.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies related to cardiac device management.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols.

The Device Clinic RN utilizes clinical assessment skills daily to evaluate patient status and device performance, ensuring timely identification of any abnormalities. Technical proficiency with device interrogation equipment and EHR systems is essential for accurate data collection and documentation. Strong communication skills are employed to educate patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams effectively. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are necessary to troubleshoot device issues and develop appropriate care plans. Additionally, organizational skills support managing multiple patient cases and coordinating follow-up care efficiently.
