Job DescriptionDescription:
About Us
At Portages Health, we’re not just delivering care—we’re leading a movement.
We’re a Minnesota-based, physician-owned digital behavioral health company on a mission to revolutionize how compassionate, culturally grounded mental health care is delivered across the Upper Midwest. With our powerful, proprietary technology platform and a deeply collaborative care model, we empower therapists to do what they do best: heal, uplift, and inspire change.
As we grow, we're inviting Licensed and Pre-Licensed Therapists with bold hearts and brilliant minds to join our dynamic, purpose-driven team. If you believe deeply in the power of healing relationships, innovative care, and social impact—you’ll feel right at home here.
The Opportunity
At Portages Health, being a therapist means more than providing care—it means becoming a trusted guide on someone’s healing journey. You’ll be a core member of our interdisciplinary care team, working together with psychiatrists, mental health coaches, and care navigators to support individuals facing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Together, we don’t just manage symptoms—we empower transformation.
This isn’t just a job. It’s a calling to serve with heart, to lead with compassion, and to restore hope. You’ll play a vital role in helping youth and adults reclaim their mental health and build fulfilling lives rooted in resilience, culture, and connection.
We are honored to partner with Tribal Nations across the Upper Midwest to deliver trauma-informed, culturally grounded care to Native youth, families, and communities. Your work will have deep impact—and we will support your success through competitive benefits, reflective supervision, and a team culture that values your wellness as much as your clinical skill.
Native American and Indigenous Therapists are strongly encouraged to apply. Your lived experience and cultural knowledge are vital strengths in the healing work we do.
Work Model: Hybrid (Only 2 to 3 days/week onsite required!)
What You’ll Do: Lead with Purpose. Practice with Impact.
As a therapist at Portages Health, your work will be both meaningful and mission driven. You’ll be at the heart of our collaborative care model, supporting clients with compassion, clarity, and cutting-edge tools that help them reclaim their mental health and wellbeing.
You will:
- Lead individual, group, and family therapy sessions with intention, empathy, and cultural humility
- Conduct in-depth diagnostic assessments to uncover client strengths, challenges, and goals
- Design and implement personalized treatment plans rooted in evidence-based practices
- Leverage real-time client insights via the Portages mobile app to inform care every step of the way
- Provide timely crisis intervention and stabilization with a calm, grounded presence
- Document care thoroughly and confidentially using our proprietary Portages for Practitioners platform, fully integrated with modern EHR systems
- Partner and collaborate with your fellow team members across disciplines—psychiatrists, coaches, care navigators, and community partners—to deliver truly wraparound care (We “wrap a village of care” around each patient)
- Stay current with leading therapeutic and coaching approaches, including CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, and Positive Psychology
- Educate and advocate for clients and families, empowering them with knowledge and support
- Engage in weekly team-based clinical consultations designed to foster growth, reflection, and professional resilience
- Show up as your authentic self, committed to caring deeply about the people you serve
What We’re Looking For: Therapists with Heart, Skill, and Passion
We’re looking for bold, compassionate therapists who are ready to do meaningful work in schools and communities—especially those who thrive in collaborative environments and are driven by purpose.
If you care deeply about supporting youth, building trusted relationships, and promoting culturally grounded mental health care, you’re our kind of clinician.
- Master’s or Doctorate in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field – your education is your foundation, and we honor the path you’ve taken to get here.
- Licensed or license-eligible in Minnesota (We’re also recruiting in Wisconsin, Michigan, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming).
- Experience working in school-based settings—or a strong interest in supporting youth in educational environments—is highly valued.
- 2+ years of clinical experience preferred – but if you’re newly licensed and ready to learn, lead, and make an impact, we want to hear from you.
- Training in evidence-based therapy models like CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, or Positive Psychology is a plus.
- Cultural humility and sensitivity to Native American communities – we serve in partnership with Tribal Nations, and your cultural awareness is essential to building trust and delivering healing.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills – especially when working with children, teens, families, and school staff.
- A strong commitment to ethical, trauma-informed, and inclusive care – we hold ourselves and our systems to high standards of integrity.
- Comfort with EHRs and tech-enabled care – we use our proprietary Portages platform to stay coordinated, efficient, and effective.
If you’re passionate about helping students thrive—not just in school, but in life—you’ll find a powerful sense of purpose here.
