Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking a PACU/PreOp RN with at least one year of PACU experience, including pediatric exposure, for a busy surgical center in Washington.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in an acute care PACU/PreOp unit with 12 beds covering Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery
- Patient population includes both adults and pediatric cases
- Common procedures include ortho, totals, ENT, septoplasty, TNA, fractures, sports med, shoulder/knee scopes, and spinal surgeries
- Nurse to patient ratios are 1:2 in Phase 1 and 1:3 in Phase 2
- Shifts are 10 or 12 hours, with schedules set as 4/10’s or 3/12’s; start times and days may vary as needed
- No call, holiday, or weekend requirements, though flexibility in coverage may be needed
- Electronic charting is performed using the SIS EMR system
- Pre-Op assignments may be given based on experience and departmental needs
- PACU RNs are responsible for patient discharge, education, and post-operative monitoring
- Pre-Op responsibilities may include patient intake, obtaining vital signs, IV starts, changing, and preparing patients for surgery
- Daily duties include room turnover, stocking, crash cart checks, and supporting departmental flow
- 3 days of unit orientation are provided, and first-time travelers are welcome if able to work independently after orientation
- Scrubs are provided; personal or paper caps may be used in the OR, and street clothes may be worn on arrival
- Manager and charge nurses are present and support hands-on patient care and departmental needs
\n \n Requirements\n
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum of 1 year recent PACU experience required; pediatric experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in IV starts and with tele monitoring (ability to recognize lethal rhythms using 3-lead telemetry)
- Ability to provide care for both adult and pediatric surgical patients
