About the Role:

The Superintendent plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and managing all aspects of commercial construction projects from inception through completion. This position ensures that projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards by coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams. The Superintendent is responsible for implementing construction management best practices, including pre-construction planning, constructability reviews, and safety management protocols. They serve as the primary on-site authority, resolving issues promptly and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders to facilitate smooth project delivery. Ultimately, the Superintendent’s efforts directly impact the successful realization of complex construction projects while upholding safety and regulatory compliance across all phases.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent or similar role in commercial construction.
  • Proven knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and coordinating complex construction activities.
  • Strong understanding of pre-construction processes, constructability, and project scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification such as OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or equivalent.
  • Experience with masonry and demolition operations in commercial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction management software and project scheduling tools.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale commercial construction projects across multiple states.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety management systems and risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and labor to optimize productivity and maintain project timelines.
  • Implement and enforce comprehensive safety management plans to minimize risks and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings and constructability reviews to identify potential challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee demolition, masonry, and other specialized construction operations, ensuring technical accuracy and safety.
  • Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and communicate updates to project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Resolve on-site issues promptly, including logistical, technical, and personnel challenges, to avoid delays.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.

The Superintendent utilizes construction management skills daily to plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of commercial construction projects, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to timelines. Expertise in construction safety is critical for developing and enforcing safety protocols that protect workers and comply with regulations. Skills in subcontracting and vendor management enable the Superintendent to effectively allocate resources and maintain productive relationships with external partners. Knowledge of pre-construction and constructability allows for proactive identification of potential issues, facilitating smoother project execution. Additionally, technical skills in masonry and demolition are applied to supervise specialized tasks, ensuring quality workmanship and safety throughout the project lifecycle.
