Position Summary:
PWC Companies is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with commercial construction experience.
As a key member of our finance team, the Senior Accountant helps drive the financial success of our projects by delivering accurate, timely reporting and providing critical job cost insights. This role partners closely with project managers, company leadership, and stakeholders to ensure every construction project stays financially sound, compliant, and on track for success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, job cost reports, and project profitability analysis.
- Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Review and monitor construction project budgets, commitments, change orders, and cost to complete.
- Assist with subcontractor billing and payment applications in coordination with project managers. Ensure all change orders and monthly invoices are sent to the accounting system from Procore ERP.
- Ensure new project and vendor setup in Procore and Sage.
- Track outstanding AR and collections.
- Review ERP activity in Procore for processing to Sage.
- Oversee vendor payment processing.
- Oversee payroll processing and reports; backup to payroll.
- Oversee payroll journal entries and labor cost allocations to projects.
- Support WIP (Work in Progress) reporting and forecasting with the VP of Finance.
- Assist with annual audit preparation and year-end close.
- Assist with mentoring and reviewing work of junior accounting staff.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required;
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- At least 3 years of experience in a commercial construction environment required.
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting and construction billing practices (AIA billing preferred).
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar construction accounting software is required.
- Experience with Procore or similar project management software required.
- Experience with software integrations between systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
