Risk Manager – Safety, Risk Management, and Occupational Health -Director of Risk Management & Occupational Health
Location: Sarasota, FL
Job Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary Range: $100,000 – $115,000 per year, depending on experience
Relocation Assistance: Up to $3,000 available for those relocating 50+ miles
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to lead our comprehensive Safety and Risk Management Program, including oversight of Occupational Health. This is a highly collaborative, strategic role responsible for identifying, measuring, and managing a variety of risks that impact our organization, employees, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an annual operating budget exceeding $20 million and supervise a team of 11, including 8 direct reports.
- Develop and implement safety and risk policies in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee in-house adjusting staff for property and liability claims; manage TPA for auto and workers' compensation.
- Identify and evaluate risk exposures across real, personal, and human assets.
- Collect and analyze underwriting data; negotiate and develop insurance programs.
- Lead and supervise claims processes from intake through litigation and resolution.
- Advise and participate in claim settlements, negotiations, and mediations.
- Draft RFPs for risk-related services and manage vendor selection and contract administration.
- Establish insurance and indemnification requirements for projects.
- Serve as an internal advisor to departments and leadership.
- Represent the division in meetings with the Board, leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain relationships with insurers, underwriters, and legal representatives.
- Set safety/risk goals using data analysis and industry benchmarks.
- Balance risk retention and transfer through various insurance strategies.
- Serve as the Safety/Risk Unit in the Emergency Operations Center when activated.
- Oversee the Employee Health Center’s occupational health efforts, budget, and compliance.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business/Public Administration, or related field and 6 years of relevant experience
- OR Master’s degree and 4 years of related experience
- OR 10 years of progressively responsible experience (in lieu of a degree)
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
Preferred Certifications:
- ARM, RMP, RIMS-CRMP, CSP, or equivalent designation
Other Requirements:
- Must pass an extensive background check (CJIS Clearance)
- Pre-employment substance screening required
- Ability to work in-person in Sarasota, FL
