Job DescriptionSalary:
The Public Relations (PR) Manager, reporting to the Director of Marketing, is primarily responsible for executing external marketing communications and journalist relationship management for the group and leisure visitor segments targeted by the Chattanooga Tourism Co. This is an exempt, full-time position in a hybrid work environment in Chattanooga, TN, and the individual in this role must reside in the Chattanooga metropolitan area.

Amplifying our brand voice and serving marketing communications needs by:
- Evaluating, identifying, and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing communications efforts extended to meet the organizations and marketing teams strategic goals targeting the group and leisure visitor segments. Strategically, you will focus on tying the media and journalistic relationship management strategy and communications process to brand voice and image.
- Creating and communicating constructive feedback loops to ensure that the Marketing team is exceeding expectations in meeting the needs of the organizations targeted visitor segments and marketing and making/implementing strategic recommendations for improvement that optimize organizational excellence.
Day-to-day you will:
Work as a member of the Marketing team to:
- Implement and continuously improve the journalist and influencer relationship management lifecycle from initial inquiry through publication. You will collaborate with the Marketing Director and Chief Marketing Officer to select agency vendors, appropriate journalists and influencers, and effectively understand and communicate partner and internal collateral needs, priorities, and delivery.
- Manage and continuously improve the journalist and influencer site visit experience, cultivating relationships with local partners and vendors to curate itineraries highlighting the destination in alignment with market segments.
- Manage and continuously improve the editorial calendar, communicating media hits to appropriate parties and making recommendations for journalist, influencer, and media visits based on data-driven feedback and industry/local trends.
- Write and ensure delivery of appropriate press releases and/or media alert copy for digital and physical distribution.
- Identify and recommend process and framework updates for continued efficiency and effectiveness of the marketing communications function to amplify organizational excellence.
- In collaboration with the Content team, develop brand voice guidelines for Influencer marketing relationships.
- Effectively manage internal and external relationships to collaboratively create and align efforts for a unified brand voice.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing, CMO, CEO, or COO.
Experience you bring to this role is:
- A Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or business administration and two years or more of relevant experience in public relations/media communications/leisure journalism OR
- A Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in an unrelated field or a high school diploma/GED and four years or more of relevant experience in public relations/media communications/leisure journalism.
- Experience in the travel/tourism/hospitality industry is a bonus.
Physical Requirements*:
- A complete range of motion is required in the position including but not limited to: balancing, carrying, climbing, crawling, grasping/handling/feeling, kneeling, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), listening, pulling or pushing, reaching, running, seeing, sitting, standing, stooping, talking, walking, etc.
- A valid drivers license, access to a reliable vehicle, and motor vehicle insurance are required.
- Driving a vehicle, riding in a vehicle, and flying in an airplane are required.
Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- The typical work environment is an environmentally controlled business office with core business hours of 8:30am 5:00pm.
- Some earlier morning, later evenings and weekend work is occassionally required.
