Job Summary:

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for interacting with patients in a healthcare setting and managing administrative tasks for the clinical team. As the initial point of contact for patients, they are crucial in creating a positive experience and ensuring smooth operations within the clinic. This role reports directly to the Regional Office Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
  • Greet patients and visitors in a timely, friendly and professional manner; provide exceptional customer service
  • Verify patient demographics and applicable insurance benefits; maintain accurate electronic patient records
  • Assist patients with check-in process
  • Communicate updates to patients timely
  • Coordinate with clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow within the clinic
  • Represent the clinic in a friendly, professional manner; treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable with all necessary materials
  • Answer incoming calls in a timely, professional manner; provide general information to callers
  • Participate in team activities, team meetings and professional development activities
  • Demonstrate and embody TGH Urgent Care powered by Fast Track’s mission and core values
  • Comply with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines regarding patient confidentiality as well as follow all principles of medical ethics
  • Complete required training as assigned by the organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, composure, and professional development; self-motivated and self-starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of individuals
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and in sometimes emotionally challenging situations
  • Ability to cross train between front office and mid office responsibilities as needed to ensure a high functioning clinic
  • Effectively act as a liaison between patients and clinical team
  • Ability to follow established office routines and organizational policies

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Education and Qualification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as receptionist, customer service representative or similar client facing position
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred
  • Active CPR/BLS certification,?preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Medical records (EMR) systems, i.e. eClinicalWorks or EPIC, preferred

Work Environment:

  • This position operates on-site in a professional medical environment
  • Consistent use of technology platforms throughout shift to complete assigned work tasks
  • Ability to move supplies and office equipment (up to 20 lbs.)

Work Schedule and Travel:

  • Typical Work Schedule: 40-hour work week Sunday through Saturday with 3 x 12-hour shifts and 1x 6-hour shift within designated Region
  • Every other weekend shift, Saturday and Sunday, required
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Mileage reimbursement available for eligible business travel
  • May require traveling to clinics outside assigned Region during training
  • Overtime hour availability based on patient volume and clinic need
