Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

\n\n

Serves as a liaison between patients, University Health, and community support services. Conducts outreach to support program recruitment and retention, and provides case management, recovery support, education, and referrals for patients with chemical dependency issues. Assists patients in identifying psychological, personal, and environmental challenges related to substance abuse to help them achieve optimal therapeutic and functional outcomes. Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, assisting with data collection, entry, and reporting

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

\n\n

High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in conducting community-based outreach and education programs is required. Must a minimum of one year of shared-life experience with substance use disorder and be eligible to take Recovery Support Peer Specialist training. Bachelor’s Degree, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, or Certified Recovery Support Peer Specialist preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to share their story in a way that educates and inspires others. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

\n\n

A valid Texas State DL operator’s license “Class C” and must maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record. Peer Specialist Certification (MHPS, RSPS, or CFP) is required within one year of hire
