Job Description

This role focuses on operating heavy industrial equipment to press and form thick metal components used in the manufacture of aerospace and airplane frames. You will work with a variety of machines, perform precise measurements, and maintain a clean, organized work area while supporting production needs across the shop.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various metal forming machines, including band saws, press machines, bump machines, stretch machines, and other production equipment, to shape thick metal into aerospace frame components.
  • Measure parts accurately using a tape measure and other measuring tools to ensure all components meet required specifications and tolerances.
  • Set up machines as needed, monitor operations during production runs, and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Handle and move metal materials and parts safely, including working with jib cranes or overhead cranes when required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and production documents to understand part dimensions, tolerances, and processing requirements.
  • Perform basic CNC machine operation as needed to support production and ensure consistent output quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all housekeeping standards and 5S principles.
  • Assist in other production areas as needed to support overall workflow and meet production goals.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working with heavy machinery and metal materials.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to identify and resolve production issues and improve processes.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the metal manufacturing or forging industry.
  • Hands-on experience operating machines such as press machines, stretch machines, bump machines, band saws, and other metal fabrication equipment.
  • Jib crane or overhead crane experience for safe handling and movement of heavy materials.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for precise measurements.
  • CNC machine operating experience in a production or fabrication environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings.
  • Strong production and machine operation skills with a focus on quality and consistency.
  • Good job tenure demonstrating reliability and commitment.
  • Strong math skills to support accurate measurements and calculations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures can be high during the summer. The facility has an older exterior, but the shop floor is kept as clean as possible, extremely organized, and clearly labeled throughout. You will work around heavy industrial machinery, cranes, and metal fabrication equipment. The standard day shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with longer hours as needed; Fridays typically run from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with additional time and occasional weekend work as required by production demands. All new hires train on day shift for at least two weeks before transitioning to another shift if applicable. Other shifts include an off/2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) and a night shift (Sunday 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., then Monday–Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with Thursday as needed). The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a work shirt, along with appropriate personal protective equipment provided or specified by the company.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
