We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Building Materials Sales Representative to join our team at Bluegrass Lumber & Hardware, a contractor-focused building supply store. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the construction industry with a strong ability to build lasting relationships with contractors, builders, and industry professionals. As a Building Materials Sales Representative, you will be responsible for driving sales, offering product recommendations, and delivering outstanding customer service to our valued clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Growth: Actively seek out and engage new accounts, identify sales opportunities, and increase market share in the building materials sector.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients by providing timely and relevant product information and exceptional customer service.
- Product Expertise: Provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of building materials, including lumber, drywall, concrete, roofing materials, insulation, and other supplies commonly used in construction projects.
- Order Management: Accurately process orders, track deliveries, and ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
- Client Needs Assessment: Understand the specific requirements of each project, recommend the appropriate products, and customize solutions to meet customer needs.
- Market Research: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, product innovations, and competitor offerings to keep customers informed and maintain a competitive edge.
- Sales Reporting: Track and report on sales performance, customer interactions, and inventory needs to management regularly.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any customer issues or concerns regarding products, deliveries, or service in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience working with contractors and builders is preferred but not required. A willingness to learn is sufficient.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of building materials, tools, and construction processes is preferred but not required. A willingness to learn is sufficient.
- Sales Skills: Ability to generate new business, close sales, and build long-term relationships with customers.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex product details and construction-related terminology to customers.
- Customer Service: A commitment to delivering exceptional service, with strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first attitude.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple client accounts, track orders, and meet sales targets in a fast-paced environment.
- Technology: Proficiency with CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer applications.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in construction management, business, or a related field is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse or retail environment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the store as necessary to assist customers and manage inventory.
