DENTAL HYGIENIST JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote dental health by completing dental prophylaxis, oral cancer screenings, radiographic studies, and charting conditions of decay and disease in compliance with the Dental Practice Act
- Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping them
- Provide information by answering patient and staff questions
- Maintain instrumentation by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting tools
- Select materials and equipment by evaluating patients' oral health
- Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and beneath gum margins
- Detect disease through screenings, examinations, and radiographic studies
- Help prevent decay by applying fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents
DENTAL HYGIENIST JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Active dental hygiene license in DC
- Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients on oral health care practices
