What does a Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant do?

As a Medical Examiner with USMHE, Inc., you will embark on an exciting journey, traveling alongside a dedicated team of Occupational Health Techs to diverse environments such as manufacturing, warehouse, and government facilities. Your role will involve conducting a range of essential physical exams, including General Exams, DOT Physicals, and Silica Exams, ensuring workers are fit and healthy for their responsibilities. Additionally, you will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with skilled Medical Technicians from our partner company, SiteMed, to carry out National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter Exams. This onsite position offers the thrill of travel, with 80-85% of your time dedicated to visiting various facilities, enriching your experience while making a significant impact on occupational health and safety.

What you need to be successful

To excel in the Medical Examiner position at USMHE, Inc., candidates must possess an accredited degree that qualifies them as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. A DOT Medical Exam certification is preferred, or the ability to obtain it within six months is essential. Successful candidates will have a solid understanding of Occupational Health testing requirements and equipment, particularly for pulmonary screenings and audiometric testing. Familiarity with NFPA 1582 requirements will also enhance your effectiveness in conducting Firefighter Exams. Additionally, knowledge of OSHA regulations is crucial for ensuring compliance and maintaining safety standards in various workplace settings.

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to high performance will further contribute to your success in this dynamic role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Required: An accredited degree meeting the requirements for a Physician Assistant or as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Preferred: DOT Medical Exam certification or ability to do so within 6 months.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Occupational Health testing requirements and equipment.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 1582 requirements
