We have an exciting opportunity in our Baltimore, MD location for a Senior Mechanic that has industrial sewing machine experience. We are a 501 c3 nonprofit organization who supports the blind community by providing stable and rewarding career opportunities, innovative rehabilitation programs, economic and personal independence, and appropriate resources for training and education.
What you will be doing:
(Other duties may be assigned)
· Must have experience with Juki, Brother, Mitsubishi, and other Sergers and single needle machines. Experience with automatic machines a plus (label, bartac, button hole).
· Ability to set up and maintain sewing machines and document machine repairs and parts used.
· Procurement of necessary parts and spares to ensure minimal down time.
· Conduct regular maintenance checks on machines and other equipment.
· Train or instruct other employees on proper use and operation of machines. Ability to communicate clearly.
· Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
· Maintain and secure work tools.
· Make recommendations on repair/replacement of equipment.
· Install new equipment.
· Maintain a parts inventory for equipment.
· Clean and maintain work area.
Qualifications:
- Manual dexterity required – will routinely stand, sit, lift, climb, etc.
- Must have strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatics aptitude with good trouble shooting skills
- Basic reading, writing and math skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and will need to pass company sponsored forklift training course.
- Must be able to read and work from circuit diagrams, blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- General knowledge of construction trades i.e. carpentry, electricity, HVAC, plumbing with the ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
