Job Description:
As a Dental Hygienist at Daybreak Dental, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at improving patients' dental health and ensuring they receive the best possible care under your supervision. You will work closely with dentists and other team members to perform high-quality dental procedures. This role demands a proactive approach to health and safety regulations, ensuring all practices are compliant with industry standards and provide safe, effective treatment to our patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial dental assessments and prepare patients for oral examinations.
- Perform scaling, root planning, and prophylactic treatment to prevent dental disease and promote oral health.
- Apply preventative materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides).
- Take and process X-rays and intra-oral photos as required.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document care provided.
- Provide education on proper oral hygiene strategies, including brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
- Work alongside the dentist during examinations and treatments, providing assistance and expertise as needed.
- Ensure all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized according to health and safety guidelines.
- Manage inventory of clinical supplies and notify staff when replenishment is required.
- Stay current with advancements in dental hygiene practices and patient care through continuing education courses.
Requirements:
- Valid Dental Hygiene license for the state of Texas.
- Familiarity with dental software, particularly Open Dental.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and comfort.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a healthcare team while maintaining professionalism.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to dentistry (e.g., HIPAA).
- Experience in preparing, sterilizing, and maintaining dental equipment.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Friendly, patient-centered demeanor with a commitment to delivering compassionate care.
- Ability to chart effectively and proficiently alongside the doctor.
