Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support power distribution, grounding, emergency systems, UPS, and electrical installation activities for a large‑scale, data‑center‑related infrastructure project. Electrical engineering is one of the most critical scopes in data‑center construction, involving power distribution design, high‑reliability backup systems, grounding, generators, and emergency power paths. Data centers also rely heavily on electrical systems as more than 60% of project scope on mega‑projects is tied to mechanical/electrical systems. This is a fast‑paced, coordination‑heavy role working from a jobsite trailer as part of a collaborative owner‑side team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, spec sheets, cable schedules, and power distribution layouts.
  • Support installation of MV/LV equipment, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, grounding, backup generators, and emergency power systems.
  • Assist in coordinating electrical work with GC, subcontractors, commissioning teams, mechanical, and low‑voltage groups.
  • Track RFIs, submittals, subcontracts, equipment delivery schedules, and inspection logs.
  • Participate in walkdowns, QA/QC inspections, startup, energization, and commissioning planning (electrical commissioning is a major bottleneck on TX data‑center builds).
  • Maintain project documentation and field‑to‑office communication from a jobsite trailer environment.
  • Support compliance with NEC, NFPA, and electrical commissioning requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 1–5+ years of electrical engineering or construction experience (industrial, commercial, utility, mission‑critical, or MEP). Recent grads may be considered.
  • Understanding of power distribution, grounding, emergency systems, generators, UPS, and protective devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings (single‑line, three‑line, panel schedules, cable routing).
  • Familiarity with NEC/NFPA safety codes and electrical installation standards.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional engineering teams (MEP, commissioning, LV).
  • Comfortable working 100% onsite in a jobsite trailer.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment
  • Must relocate to the Midland-Odessa area for the duration of the contract.
