Coastal believes in taking care of and investing our team. We provide competitive pay, starting at $25.18 per hour for a Paramedic, with 1% additional per year, for every year of work experience as a Paramedic, up to 10 years. The annual base for a Paramedic with Coastal averages $58,755 - $63,629 per year.

Shifts may be daytime, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. We offer shift differential and overtime. Days worked are typically based on a rotating schedule, which may include alternating weekends, and may include built-in overtime. Part Time schedules may be available, we require an average of 72 hours per month for those in a Part Time status.

In addition to base pay + time and half for all hours over 40 per week, all Operations employees receive shift differentials as follows:

  • Overnight Weekdays 2300-0700 – Additional $4.00 per hour
  • Weekend Days – Additional $4.50 per hour
  • Weekend Overnights – Additional $5.00 per hour


Specific REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Current Florida Paramedic, EVOC, American Heart Association BCLS Certification required, ACLS required and PALS, PHTLS and AMLS preferred.
  • Current Florida Driver License with driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
  • Physically and mentally capable of operating an ambulance type vehicle

Coastal Ambulance provides specialized ambulance transport in Florida and beyond. Our daily call volume includes, inter-facility SCT, ALS and BLS transports, stemming from pre-hospital healthcare and hospital to hospital facilities. We provide some pre-scheduled or same day appointments as well as critical care transports. Our Field Operations team consist of highly skilled medical professionals, working with every hospital and healthcare facility in Brevard County, and with hospitals and specialty facilities throughout the state. SUMMARY: Responsible for providingbasic life support, advanced life support and specialized medical care and transportation in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and CHSB policies to patients. Responsible for the care and transport of patients to appropriate receiving facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position is required to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality in regards to electronic records and all forms of proprietary information. Work products and/or protected information will not be shared or otherwise transferred outside of the company without the prior expressed consent of the President/CEO.
  • Responds to non-emergency and emergency calls calmly, efficiently, and promptly.
  • Administers basic life support and advanced life support and specialized care to patients on scene and during transport in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Assesses the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
  • Effectively communicates with medical personnel and treatment facilities.
  • Timely and through completion of patient care documentation, evaluations, and all other forms.
  • Adheres to and follows all policies and procedures concerning safety and contamination of blood borne pathogens.
  • Properly document each transport on the approved Patient Care Report.
  • Handles telephone and radio communications professionally and efficiently with careful regard to the divulgence of information respecting confidentiality requests at all times.
  • Assures that vehicles are in good working condition, are properly cleaned and stocked, have all necessary equipment and ensure this equipment is in good working order at all times.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with all appropriate OSHA standards, company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Observes and complies strictly with all HIPAA policies and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent
  • Current Florida Paramedic, EVOC, American Heart Association BCLS Certification required, ACLS required and PALS, PHTLS and AMLS preferred.
  • Current Florida Driver License with driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
  • Physically and mentally capable of operating an ambulance type vehicle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to read/write/speak/understand English language fluently.
  • 6 months of prior experience as a Paramedic preferred
  • Standard/specialized office equipment and software programs related to office processes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Coastal is a 24/7/365 operation. As a healthcare organization, any employee may be requested or required at times to work outside of their traditional ‘business hours’ as scheduled by management. This may include evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and/or man-made or natural disaster situations, such as hurricanes, tropical storms, or Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI).

Full-Time: 12-hour rotating shifts, 84 hour pay period.
Part-Time: 12-hour shifts, minimum 1 shift per week/4 per month.
