Perka Buildings is excited to announce that we have an opening at our Fabrication shop in Saint Joseph Missouri for a new welder/Fitter position. PERKA Buildings is an innovative Steel/Wood Hybrid building company seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead Fabricator to join our growing team. This role is critical to ensuring the structural integrity and aesthetic quality of our unique builds, which blend steel and wood components. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead fabrication projects from start to finish, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
• Interpret and analyze complex blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Perform MiG welding on steel components with precision and accuracy.
• Collaborate with other team members, including designers and engineers, to ensure structural and design specifications are met.
• Assist in troubleshooting fabrication issues and ensuring all builds meet company standards.
• Work with both steel and wood materials, understanding how they integrate within hybrid structures.
• Uphold workplace safety standards and ensure all team members follow proper protocols.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Blueprint Reading: Ability to read, interpret, and work from complex blueprints and schematics.
• MiG Welding Proficiency: Skilled in MiG welding techniques, with hands-on experience in welding steel for structural projects.
• Mathematical Competency: Strong grasp of mathematics, particularly in measurements, angles, and geometric calculations, to ensure precision in fabrication.
• Certification: Must pass a Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification test within 30 days of employment.
• Problem-Solving: Capable of diagnosing and addressing fabrication challenges, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of each build.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in a lead fabricator role, especially in the construction of steel or wood structures.
• Familiarity with hybrid building systems, where steel and wood are combined to create structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing designs.
