We are seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to join our community committed to delivering outstanding patient outcomes to our residents, members and associates. As an Assistant Director of Nursing, you will play an important role in assisting in coordination of nursing services, that meets or exceeds Buckner quality, service, and hospitality standards. What you'll do:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines in all areas of nursing care. Clarify nursing policies and procedures for staff, residents, and families.
- Ensure resident plan of care is followed and proper documentation is performed.
- Assist staff in identifying resident care needs and problem areas. Develop work assignments and/or assist nursing supervisory staff in completing and performing such tasks.
- Conduct conferences with staff and residents as needed to identify and resolve staff and resident issues. Document all issues and actions taken. If issues are not resolved, refer to Director of Nursing for further action.
- Evaluate nursing care rendered through such means as resident visits, quality assurance programs, chart audits, team conferences, etc.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing nursing personnel in fulfilling their responsibilities for nursing service.
- Coordinate and conduct in-service programs for nursing staff regularly; attend and participate in staff meetings and training as required.
- Develop emerging leadership through professional growth and development.
- Work successfully as a part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.
- Work with and back up the MDS coordinator on MDS schedules, transmission, and forms completion as required to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate, attend, and lead the care plan meetings.
- Complete care plans as needed.
- Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures and requirements. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws and regulatory guidelines and requirements.
What you'll bring:
- High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Must have and maintain a current licensure by the Texas State Board of Nursing as a Licensed Vocational or Registered Nurse.
- Two years prior related experience in a long-term care facility and/or geriatric nursing is preferred.
- Must complete and/or meet training and certification requirements of Buckner and the State of Texas.
- Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
- Comply with Patient's rights, all regulatory requirements, and all company policies and procedures as stated now and in the future.
- Proficient use of computers and the ability to teach computer related tasks.
- Requires knowledge of general nursing theory and practice, including basic knowledge related to nursing, such as drugs, biological, physical, social, and medical sciences, and their application. Requires working knowledge of infection control, universal precautions and OSHA standards.
- Requires knowledge of principles and methods involved in in-service instruction of nursing and ancillary personnel, in demonstrating techniques and methods of patient-care services, and in instruction of patients' needs.
- Requires familiarity with medical diagnoses, procedures, and accepted medical treatment patterns. Requires knowledge of procedures and techniques necessary to administer medication and treatment as prescribed by physician; knowledge of medications and possible side effects.
- Requires ability to appropriately and professionally communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers. Ability to make self clearly understood by others required.
- Requires ability to exercise independent judgment under broad nursing case guidelines. Exercise initiative, patience, tact and confidentiality; demonstrate supervisory and leadership ability; and ability to analyze and evaluate objectively. Requires ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Requires ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings. Requires ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, residents, prospective residents, vendors, donors, families and the public. Ability to meet emotional and physical demands of the patients; ability to help insure patients' dignity.
- Requires ability to maintain composure, positive attitude and awareness of priorities in an environment of stress and frequent interruptions.
- Requires ability to keep accurate, detailed records and timely prepare routine reports.
- Requires ability to make self clearly understood in face-to-face interactions; ability to articulate with accuracy and precision to give directions, speak on the phone and intercom, etc.
- Requires ability to receive verbal instructions, answer phones, etc. with some background noise.
- Requires ability to concentrate on moderate to fine detail with some interruption; ability to attend to tasks/functions for more than 60 minutes at a time.
