Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician
Location: New York, NY 10011
Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift (08:00 AM – 04:00 PM)

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians in delivering high-quality eye care services. This role involves performing comprehensive preliminary eye examinations, assisting with diagnostic and minor procedural tasks, maintaining ophthalmic equipment, and ensuring efficient patient flow within a fast-paced clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary ophthalmic examinations, including:
    • Visual field testing (central and peripheral)
    • Ocular motility and color vision assessments
    • Tonometry, tonography, and intraocular pressure measurements
    • Pharmacological pupil testing and pupil assessments prior to dilation
  • Obtain and accurately document patient medical and personal history
  • Manage patient flow to ensure smooth clinic operations
  • Coordinate and schedule:
    • Laboratory tests
    • Ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic procedures
    • Outpatient services and hospital admissions
  • Educate patients and families on diagnostic procedures and care plans
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic equipment such as slit lamps, keratometers, lensometers, and tonometers
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments for examinations and procedures
  • Assist physicians with minor office procedures, laser treatments, and surgical support (as needed)
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory of exam rooms and clinical areas
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ophthalmic Technician Certification required
  • Strong knowledge of ophthalmic procedures, diagnostics, and equipment
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
