Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician
Location: New York, NY 10011
Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift (08:00 AM – 04:00 PM)
Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians in delivering high-quality eye care services. This role involves performing comprehensive preliminary eye examinations, assisting with diagnostic and minor procedural tasks, maintaining ophthalmic equipment, and ensuring efficient patient flow within a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary ophthalmic examinations, including:
- Visual field testing (central and peripheral)
- Ocular motility and color vision assessments
- Tonometry, tonography, and intraocular pressure measurements
- Pharmacological pupil testing and pupil assessments prior to dilation
- Obtain and accurately document patient medical and personal history
- Manage patient flow to ensure smooth clinic operations
- Coordinate and schedule:
- Laboratory tests
- Ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic procedures
- Outpatient services and hospital admissions
- Educate patients and families on diagnostic procedures and care plans
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic equipment such as slit lamps, keratometers, lensometers, and tonometers
- Prepare and sterilize instruments for examinations and procedures
- Assist physicians with minor office procedures, laser treatments, and surgical support (as needed)
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory of exam rooms and clinical areas
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ophthalmic Technician Certification required
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic procedures, diagnostics, and equipment
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
