Machinist -DAY SHIFT

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The Machinist will set up, operate, and maintain precision machine tools to produce high-quality components, as well as build and maintain jigs, fixtures, and tooling used in production. The ideal candidate will have strong tool-and-die experience, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications to meet production schedules and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, program (if CNC), and operate lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine tools to produce parts to specified tolerances.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations and specifications.
  • Build, assemble, and adjust jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling to support production and ensure repeatable accuracy.
  • Perform tool and die tasks including die maintenance, minor tool fabrication, and repair of tooling as needed.
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, CMM or other inspection equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machines and tooling to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production planners, and quality personnel to resolve manufacturing issues and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate production and tooling records, including setup sheets and inspection documentation, and follow safety and housekeeping procedures.
  • Train and mentor junior machinists and shop personnel on best practices, safe operation, and use of jigs/fixtures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, technical certificate, or equivalent; CNC/machining vocational training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment; experience with tool and die work strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, GD&T, and machining symbols; strong ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience building and using jigs, fixtures, gauges, and other shop tooling.
  • Skilled in the use of manual and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders) and common inspection instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and continuous improvement practices such as Lean or Kaizen is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
