Job Title: Recruiter

FLSA Status: Exempt

Prepared Date: January 4, 2024


Summary: Recruits, researches, interviews, screens, and refers job candidates for job openings by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Confers with management and supervisors to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills.


Writes job descriptions or reviews and edits job descriptions written by others.


Develops recruitment programs, budgets, and collateral, such as brochures about the organization to attract applicants and to fill specific job openings.


Develops and maintains network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.


Initiates contact with potentially qualified candidates for specific job openings.


Reviews applications and interviews applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and salary requirements, and to provide information about the organization and position.


Screens and refers candidates for additional interviews with others in organization.


Writes and places job advertising in various media, with the assistance of management.


Works with external recruiters and employment agencies to identify and recruit candidates.


Utilizes internet online recruiting sources and social media to identify and recruit candidates.


Provides information on company facilities and job opportunities to potential applicants.


Coordinates communications with applicants.


Coordinates background checks on applicants with the compliance department to be in accordance with FMCSA requirements.


Files and maintains applications for future references.


Assists the Safety Director and Compliance Manager with collecting leasing/contracting documents.

Works with the Safety Director in ensuring new independent contractors are willing and able to follow FMCSA regulations and safe practices in the loading, unloading, and transportation of commercial freight.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

Associate degree in marketing or business: or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Although knowledge in the transportation industry is helpful it is not required to start out with it.


Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence; Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to read a tape measure; add, subtract, multiply and divide different units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
