Pediatric Physical Therapy (PT) Director Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Comprehensive Physical Therapy Assessments: Perform evaluations to assess clients’ physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional abilities, identifying barriers to participation in daily activities and determining functional goals.
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Treatment Plans: Create and execute tailored intervention plans based on assessment outcomes, using evidence-based occupational therapy techniques to enhance independence and quality of life.
  • Supervision and Training: Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and training to Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), practicum students, and other clinical staff, ensuring the effective implementation of client care plans while fostering professional growth.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of PTAs and support staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment, setting team goals, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality services across all cases.
  • Program Oversight: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PT programs across multiple clients, ensuring fidelity of implementation and adherence to ethical and clinical standards. Collaborate with the ABA Clinical Director, CEO, Administrative, and HR Directors to shape the vision and direction of PT services during department planning meetings.
  • Participate in planning PT agenda for department meetings with CEO, Administrative and HR Directors to ensure positive culture, professionalism and clinical standards.
  • Direct Client Therapy: Provide one-on-one therapy sessions to address fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care tasks, adaptive equipment use, and other functional goals.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Establish systems to monitor client progress, analyze outcomes, and modify interventions as needed to maximize therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including BCBAs, SLPs, OTs, Music Therapy professionals, and clients’ families, to ensure a holistic approach to client care and consistent application of strategies.
  • Maintain Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed session notes, progress reports, treatment plans, and other required documentation in compliance with organizational, state, and federal regulatory standards applicable to Physical Therapists.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Conduct audits, ensuring compliance with company policies, state regulations, and PT guidelines, and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Professional Development: Facilitate team meetings, case consultations, and in-service training to enhance staff skills and maintain a culture of continuous learning.
  • Client and Family Advocacy: Serve as a point of contact for families and caregivers, addressing concerns, providing updates on progress, and ensuring their involvement in the treatment process.

Qualifications:

  • Certification and Licensure: Possess a valid Michigan Certification in Physical Therapy and licensure as a Physical Therapist in Michigan.
  • Education: Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Experience: 3+ years of PT experience is preferred; previous management and leadership experience expected.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of clinical staff, with excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred: Experience in program development, staff performance evaluations, or collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Availability: Willingness to work afternoons, at least three evenings Monday through Friday until 7:00 PM, and participate in a Saturday rotation as needed.
  • Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between clinic locations in Shelby Township and Clinton Township and provide limited in-home services within Macomb County.
