Weekend PM - $4.00 shift premium

Role
Within the framework of policies and procedures, the CNC Machinist position has the authority and responsibility to produce machined parts per manufacturing plannings, blueprints, and associated aids, within tolerances and planning estimates.

  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
  • Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Position and fasten work pieces.
  • Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plannings, sketches, and program descriptions for set-up and production of detail parts, assemblies and weldments.
  • Set-up operations and load tools into machine tool changer.
  • Perform in process inspections, on all parts.
  • Interface with Quality Assurance personnel regarding inspection criteria and results.
  • Provide feedback to programming and supervision regarding cycle times, program accuracy, and suggest changes to improve productivity and part accuracy.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Skills

  • Set up skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Math skills, minimum, high school arithmetic, trigonometry helpful.
  • Familiarity with G Code programming, and ability to make minor changes, or desire to learn.
  • Blueprint reading skills
  • Familiarity with inspection tools.
  • Ability to use simple support equipment (drill sharpeners, grinder, etc.).
  • Must have standard machinist’s tools and toolbox.
