Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-time (Monday–Friday, with on-call rotation)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pediatrician provides medical leadership and direct clinical care to pediatric patients with complex medical, neurodevelopmental, and behavioral needs. This role partners closely with nursing, behavioral health, and therapy teams to deliver integrated, patient-centered care in a specialized inpatient setting.

The Pediatrician ensures that all patients receive high-quality, evidence-based care consistent with Nexus standards, state and federal regulations, and best practices for pediatric rehabilitation and behavioral health.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive medical evaluations, ongoing management, and follow-up for assigned pediatric inpatients.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — including psychiatrist, nursing, behavioral, therapy, and case management staff — to develop and update individualized treatment plans.

  • Serve as co-attending physician for pediatric admissions, discharges, and transitions of care.

  • Provides clinical supervision and oversight of nurse practitioners in accordance with applicable regulations and facility policies.

  • Monitors and comanages complex medical and behavioral conditions, including medication management, physical health, and comorbid diagnoses in coordination with co-attending psychiatrist.

  • Participate in daily rounds, care conferences, and quality review meetings to ensure coordinated and consistent care.

  • Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and external providers regarding patient progress, treatment plans, and ongoing needs.

  • Maintain detailed and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.

  • Participate in ongoing performance improvement, infection control, and risk management activities.

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Nexus Health Systems in all clinical and professional activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited medical school.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.

  • Current Texas medical license (or eligibility for licensure in Texas).

  • Current BLS and PALS certification through the American Heart Association.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of pediatric experience preferred, ideally in an inpatient, behavioral health, or rehabilitation setting.

  • Experience working with children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental or behavioral diagnoses is highly valued.
