Responsibilities:

  • Draw high-quality blood samples from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Verify patient demographic information, including signatures post-venipuncture, and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the presence of patients.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all collections and procedures performed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, creating a positive and trusting environment for patients and staff.
  • Adhere to safety policies, dress codes, and confidentiality standards, ensuring a professional healthcare setting at all times.
  • Flexibly operate across multiple locations, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy sites, as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support process improvements and uphold quality standards.

    Required Skills:

  • Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, with proficiency in pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen processing procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and safety.
  • Keyboard and data entry skills for record keeping and documentation.

    Nice to Have Skills:

  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred).
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training background.
  • Experience working in a Patient Service Center or clinical lab setting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to clinical environments.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional medical training or certification is preferred.
  • At least three years of relevant phlebotomy experience, especially in diverse patient populations.

    Other Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours based on staffing needs.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if travel is required.
  • Physical ability to perform venipuncture, handle specimens, and stand for extended periods.
  • Compliance with all safety, health, and confidentiality policies.
