ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
- Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits while performing his job function.
- Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
- Clamps, holds, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
- Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials. The Welder examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Recognizes, set up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment
Shift is Monday-Thursday 6AM-4:30PM with occasional overtime on Fridays if needed.
