Job Description

Purpose and Scope:

Supervises employees who make deliveries to and from specified locations. Oversees transportation activities including route assignments, route delivery, and account processing. Schedules drivers and assigns routes to maximize productivity and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company rules.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily workflow of transportation to ensure proper staffing and schedules.
  • Acting as an information source for the team.
  • Assist team members as needed operationally and administratively.
  • Ensures efficient operations through collaboration and coordination with management.
  • Ensure trailers are loaded in the most efficient manner while maximizing bills loaded per trailer without compromising the integrity of the customers shipment.
  • Ensure trailers are unloaded timely and shipments received are properly staged.
  • Scheduling of delivery appointments to ensure arrival by Requested Delivery Date (RDD).
  • Completes all required reports.
  • Evaluating performance objectives and metrics to determine inbound or outbound productivity requirements to achieve customer time, accuracy, and quality expectations.

Requirements:

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Transportation operational experience.
  • Knowledge of ADA policies and regulations.
  • A knowledge of service areas and Service Contract requirements is desired.
  • Knowledge of applicable State and Federal work and passenger bus safety rules & regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skill in organization, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.

Job Competency / Qualifications

Education/ Training:

  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, supply chain or related field.

Technical Requirements:

  • Solid math skills adequate for computing load tolerance and mileage estimates.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-standard methods, costs and best practices for hauling freight.
  • Familiarity with transit and shipping codes.
  • Hazardous materials training, with or without formal certification.
  • Leadership and the ability to positively motivate a team of drivers, mechanics and laborers.
  • A working understanding of vehicle components, loading equipment and computers.

Experience:

· Five (5) to Ten (10) years of experience in transportation and logistics. Lead, mentor, and develop teams to perform to the best of their ability.
