Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the sterile and accurate admixture of IV products under a laminar flow hood or vertical flow biological safety cabinet. Responsibilities include the reconstitution of drugs, calculation of drug volumes, measurement of dosages, and transferring drugs to appropriate solutions for administration. The role requires effective communication with pharmacists, nurses, pharmacy technicians, dietitians, billing, and external customers to ensure accurate and safe patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Admix sterile IV products accurately under a laminar flow hood or biological safety cabinet.
  • Reconstitute drugs and calculate necessary drug volumes for correct dosages.
  • Measure dosages and transfer drugs to appropriate solutions for administration.
  • Label products according to policy.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders to facilitate safe patient care.
  • Maintain inventory of medications, solutions, and departmental supplies.
  • Use automated compounding devices.
  • Track expiration dates of medications and solutions.
  • Clean and maintain laminar flow hood and biological safety cabinet as per standards.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation per USP 797 guidelines.
  • Adhere to all pharmacy practice laws and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement processes.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and company proprietary information.

Essential Skills

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • Pharmacy Technician License
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Experience with IV Compounding
  • Proficiency in Aseptic Technique
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Practices

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Washington Pharmacy Technician License & Certification
  • High School Diploma, GED or higher
  • High attention to detail
  • Professional communication skills
  • Team-oriented and initiative-taking
  • Comfortable asking for help when needed
  • National license/certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required for employment beyond six months
  • Good work ethic and quick learning ability
  • Effective time management skills

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
