Job DescriptionSalary: $60.00+
**Note: This position is a dual site that is required to travel to the Irving, NY location.**
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provides psychiatric care to Seneca Nation Health System (SNHS) patients, focusing on wellness promotion and managing acute and chronic psychiatric symptoms in collaboration with Behavioral Health and primary care providers in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in treatment team meetings, provides direct clinical care to patients of Behavioral Health in accordance with established best practices.
- Triages, diagnoses, and treats psychiatric conditions within the specialty of Psychiatric Medicine.
- Assesses mental health status through a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment.
- Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings in the screening assessment to detect changes in health status.
- Initiates requests for laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Reviews and interprets routine screening tool and laboratory results to identify appropriate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Performs medication injections as necessary.
- Performs therapeutic and corrective measures including prescribing medication and provides preventative health maintenance and education in accordance with obtained license.
- Develops and implements patient treatment plans.
- Records patients progress in electronic health record (EHR) in order to plan program management and therapy appropriate to patients needs.
- Maintains patient records according to program guidelines and the Privacy Act of 1974.
- Promotes cooperative staff efforts within a multidisciplinary team to provide, maintain, and assure high quality patient care.
- Promotes and participates with PCMH policies and procedures.
- Provide psychiatric direction and education to multidisciplinary team.
- Adheres to agreements set forth in employment contract.
- Participates and cooperates in the re-credentialing process with the Contracting and Credentialing Coordinator.
- Must maintain all licensures and certifications of the position.
- Upholds and promotes the value and integrity of the Seneca Nation Health Systems mission statement.
- Provides care through a trauma-informed lens by incorporating key principles of both physical and psychological environment safety, trustworthiness and transparency, collaboration of decision-making during treatment plan developments, empowerment of patients by recognizing and building upon individual strengths, as well as recognizing and respecting the diversity of cultural backgrounds and sensitivity.
- Attends all mandatory staff meetings, trainings and in-services.
- Follows all department, SNHS, and Seneca Nation policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Computer knowledge and EHR experience required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Nurse Practitioner Degree from an accredited program is required.
- Nurse Practitioner license registration from New York State is required.
- DEA registration certificate, required.
- Completion of NYS approved infection control course, required.
- At least 2 years of clinical psychiatric experience is required.
- Must be fully qualified and currently credentialed in being able to provide psychiatric services in NYS.
- Experience in a psychiatric setting, large hospital, academic medical center, outpatient health care setting, or Indian Health Service (IHS)/tribal health facility, preferred.
