Radiation Medicine Therapist
\nLocation: New York, NY
\nSchedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
\nCompensation: $90,000 – $115,000
\nRCM Health Care Services is partnering with a leading hospital system to identify an experienced Radiation Medicine Therapist to join their Radiation Oncology Department. This is a full-time, weekday role offering stability, strong clinical support, and the opportunity to work with advanced radiation therapy technology.

\n\n\n\nAbout the Role
\nThe Radiation Medicine Therapist delivers safe, accurate radiation treatments in accordance with the physician’s prescription. Working under the direction of the Chief Radiation Medicine Technologist, you will ensure high-quality patient care, precise documentation, and consistent adherence to clinical standards.\n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n\n

    \n\t
  • Prepare and position patients for treatment following established protocols
  • \n\t

  • Review treatment charts, prescriptions, and required equipment prior to each session
  • \n\t

  • Explain procedures, provide reassurance, and support patients throughout treatment
  • \n\t

  • Transfer and position patients from wheelchair/lifter to treatment table as needed
  • \n\t

  • Set up and operate radiation therapy equipment to deliver prescribed dosages
  • \n\t

  • Place blocks, wedges, and other treatment accessories as appropriate
  • \n\t

  • Monitor patients via intercom and TV screens during treatment
  • \n\t

  • Assess patient condition for skin reactions or side effects and alert physicians as needed
  • \n\t

  • Ensure weekly documentation of blood counts and port films
  • \n\t

  • Calculate doses when necessary in the absence of the Radiation Physicist
  • \n\t

  • Assist the Physicist with measurements, contours, and verification of treatment plans
  • \n\t

  • Document all treatments, fields, doses, and changes in the patient chart
  • \n\t

  • Maintain and clean treatment equipment; monitor safety interlocks
  • \n\t

  • Report equipment issues promptly and ensure treatment rooms are fully stocked
  • \n\t

  • Perform clerical and technical tasks including scheduling and maintaining records
  • \n\t

  • Stay current on radiation therapy techniques and advancements
  • \n\t

  • Maintain patient confidentiality, follow infection control policies, and uphold hospital standards
  • \n

\n\n\n\nRequirements
\nEducation:\n\n

    \n\t
  • Associate’s degree in Radiation Medicine or equivalent from an accredited program
  • \n

\nExperience:\n\n

    \n\t
  • 3–6 months of on-the-job training or equivalent clinical experience
  • \n\t

  • Familiarity with radiation therapy equipment, patient positioning, and department procedures
  • \n

\nSkills:\n\n

    \n\t
  • Strong analytical ability for treatment calculations and recognizing adverse reactions
  • \n\t

  • Excellent interpersonal and patient-care communication skills
  • \n\t

  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, physicists, and clinical staff
  • \n
