We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and oversee the financial reporting and accounting operations for our client, a Financial Services firm in Minneapolis. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in Financial Services who can collaborate across departments and influence senior leadership. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive team environment.


Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate financial reports, including filings for audit committees and management.

• Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures while conducting technical research to ensure compliance with accounting standards.

• Manage accounting processes related to investment portfolio activities and transactions.

• Collaborate with the accounting team to improve processes, cross-train staff, and meet critical deadlines.

• Lead the monthly financial close process, including general ledger management, consolidations, and variance analysis.

• Coordinate with external auditors to support audit processes and ensure compliance.

• Assist investor relations teams with external communications and reporting.

• Partner with FP& A, Treasury, and Tax teams to update forecasting models using system-generated data.

• Develop and implement internal controls and draft technical memorandums for new transactions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA preferred.

• A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in financial services.

• Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, GAAP accounting, and regulatory compliance.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proven track record of sound decision-making.

• Proficiency in general ledger management, month-end close processes, and financial systems such as Microsoft Excel.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization.

• Experience managing projects, improving systems, and enhancing operational procedures.

• Flexibility to work in the office at least three days per week, with a willingness to commit additional hours as needed during critical deadlines.
