Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A High School Special Education Teacher role is available, specializing in English instruction within a full inclusion setting. This position is located in Washington Navy Yard, DC, and is a contract opportunity for the current school year (CSY). The role involves providing both push-in and pull-out services to support students with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored English instruction to high school students within a fully inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Provide push-in support by co-teaching and assisting students in the general education classroom.
- Conduct pull-out sessions to address specific learning goals and provide targeted support.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods as necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student performance and communicate with parents and staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience teaching English to high school students with diverse learning needs.
- Proficiency in both push-in and pull-out instructional strategies.
- Strong understanding of full inclusion principles and best practices.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans.
