Job DescriptionICHS Educational Placement Program

At ICHS, we believe that meaningful service creates lasting impact. Our Educational Placement Program is designed to provide clinical rotation, internship, and externship opportunities for residents and students.


Educational institutions, universities, colleges, or technical school students may be placed for a period of time with ICHS, with an emphasis on clinical experience and/or on-the-job training. Students are provided opportunities to gain experience in their field of study, determine if they have an interest in a particular career, create a network of contacts or gain school credit.

Requirements

  • Residents and students seeking clinical experience with patient contact must be 18 years of age or older.

  • An Educational Affiliation Agreement must be fully executed prior to any recruitment activity and placement of any resident or student. The educational affiliation agreement will outline the deliverables for each rotation.

  • All residents and students must meet ICHS requirements before beginning their rotations, internship, or externship. Requirements include, but are not limited to:

    • Completing the Non-Employee On-boarding Packet (covering personal data, emergency contacts, confidentiality, HIPAA, Security and Compliance, Release of Liability, etc.)

    • Providing documents to verify identity for background checks. Per Providence regulations, Social Security Card verification is also required for those who will need EPIC access.

    • Providing proof of immunizations/vaccinations in compliance with the organization’s communicable disease screening and immunization requirements. All applicants must be cleared by the Employee Health Program prior to starting their rotation and/or placement at ICHS.

  • ICHS Staff & Preceptors will provide close and adequate supervision at all times. Close and Adequate Supervision means supervision by a staff whose license is in good standing and requires that the supervising staff has knowledge of the resident/student rotation, interns and externs training, skills and experience pertaining to the acts undertaken; the ICHS staff is competent and credentialed to perform the act; and there is adequate ICHS staff to resident/student ratio, taking into consideration the training, skill and experience of the resident/student, risk of harm to the patient due to the nature of the encounter, and risk of harm due to characteristics of the patient.

  • ICHS Staff & Preceptors must obtain a verbal consent from the patient for any resident/student that will be present during the patient encounter. ICHS staff hosting a resident or student must obtain a verbal consent from the patient for any observer that will be present during the patient encounter. ICHS staff must document in the patient’s chart that the patient authorized consent for the observer to be present during their visit.


Before You Apply...

You must already have a confirmed ICHS preceptor, and your school must have an active Educational Affiliation Agreement with ICHS.

If you are doing a project (for example, Capstone) you must already have a Preliminary Review of Research Activity Form approved by ICHS.

You will be prompted by the system to upload a resume/CV and any other applicable files.

Ensure that you have the following items ready, and upload them in the additional documents section:

  • Program’s clinical requirement letter or hours confirmation (if applicable)
  • Email or letter from your ICHS preceptor confirming:
    • Their agreement to supervise you
    • Rotation dates (individual dates or a start & end date)
    • Site location
  • Pre-Approved Preliminary Review of Research Activity Form (required for Capstone/academic projects)
  • Proof of current CPR/BLS certification (if required by your program)
