Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
- Connecticut state license (required)
- ACLS certification (required within one year if cross-training in Cardiology)
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), RPFT preferred
- Strong patient care, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
What You’ll Do
- Review physician orders, assess patients, and administer respiratory therapies
- Monitor treatment effectiveness, modify plans, and escalate when needed
- Educate patients and families on therapy goals, equipment use, and care management
- Perform resuscitation, airway management, and emergency interventions as required
- Conduct diagnostic procedures, including EKGs, ABGs, and pulmonary function testing (if cross-trained)
- Safely operate respiratory and monitoring equipment, troubleshooting when necessary
- Provide support for the NICU by transporting adult patients who require respiratory care
