Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a K-8 school setting. The role involves delivering individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborating with staff to promote inclusive learning environments.
Location: Burton, MI
School Level: K-8
Employment Type: Contract, Full Time (35 hours/week)
Duration: Current School Year (CSY)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs aligned with student goals and state standards
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to coordinate services and interventions
- Monitor and document student progress; provide timely reports for IEP meetings
- Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning and social development
- Ensure compliance with federal and state special education regulations and policies
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state certification or licensure in Special Education
- Experience teaching students with disabilities in a K-8 setting
- Strong understanding of individualized education planning and special education law
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage classroom behavior and create an inclusive learning atmosphere
