EDM Operator | East Lansing, MI
Salary Range: $47,000 - $76,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment, including wire and sinker machines.
- Set up machines by selecting and installing electrodes, fixtures, and workpieces according to specifications.
- Load, edit, and optimize EDM programs to achieve required part geometries and surface finishes.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of machined parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure quality.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining operations and sequences.
- Document production activities, including run times, part counts, and any issues encountered.
Recommended Qualifications
- Proven experience operating and setting up Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment, including Wire EDM or Sinker EDM.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code programs.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators for quality inspection.
- Knowledge of EDM principles, tooling, workholding techniques, and material properties relevant to EDM processes.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for machine issues and ability to perform routine preventative maintenance.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience operating other precision CNC machinery (e.g., Mill, Lathe, Grinder).
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software for part analysis or minor program adjustments.
- Advanced metrology skills, including CMM operation or intricate GD&T interpretation.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
