POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly-skilled, compassionate, and DODD-Certified Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Med Certification to join our home health agency in a PRN / As Needed capacity to provide care and services to DODD clients in Portsmouth, OH and surrounding areas.

- This is a PRN / As Needed position, which has varying hours and shifts week to week, with the possibility of some weeks having no hours at all.
- Critical Qualifications:
- DODD DSP Certification is required, with 1+ years DODD client care experience.
- Active Med Certification is required.
- 1+ years of experience with G-Tube care is required.
- 1+ year of Home care experience, or equivalent care environments, is required.
- Those seeking additional cases / hours have the option to start with PRN hours and receive first priority to add additional clients/shifts.

A successful Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides Home Health aide and care services under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Therapist in their region. You will be assigned to specific clients by the Registered Nurse or other appropriate professionals and perform services for clients as necessary to maintain personal comfort and safety in their home.
DSP Starting Pay Rates: $18 - $19.50 per hour
- Starting Pay is based on certifications & credentials, experience, work history and attendance, client coverage, and overall fit.
Report to: RN Case Manager / Administrator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1+ year of paid experience in home care or caregiving setting is required.
- DODD DSP Certification is required, with 1+ years DODD client care experience.
- Additional certification (CNA, STNA, CHHA) is desirable but not required.
- Active Med Certification is required.
- 1+ years of experience with G-Tube care is required.
- 1+ year of Home care experience, or equivalent care environments, is required.
- CPR and First Aide Certifications required (or can be obtained prior to hire date through our agency or accredited third parties).
- Meet the training and/or certification requirements of the state in which the home health aide services are being provided. This includes specifications of contracted agencies for which services are being provided.
- Willingness and aptitude to perform light housekeeping in addition to patient care services as needed is required.
- Strong attendance and dependability track record with previous employers.
- Good interpersonal skills and compassion for helping others live their best lives are required.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow a written Plan of Care, incorporating attention to detail in following instructions, documenting notes, and communicating with our agency.
- Desirable character traits: reliable, honest beyond reproach, professional, compassionate, detail-oriented (in care + documentation), accountable, friendly and accommodating, respectful.
- Be at lease eighteen (18) years of age.
- Valid driver's license/ID and reliable transportation to/from client care locations is mandatory.
Report to: RN Case Manager / Administrator
A successful Home Healthcare Aide provides personal care services under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Therapist in their region. You will be assigned to specific clients by the Registered Nurse or other appropriate professionals and perform services for clients as necessary to maintain personal comfort and safety in their home.
As a Home Health Aide, you will:
- Deliver direct patient care and support, following the established plan of care.
- Measure and record vital signs and other specified metrics as instructed.
- Assist with personal care tasks and activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, oral hygiene, nail & skin care, shaving, dressing).
- Perform household tasks essential to health care and living at home (e.g., meal preparation/feeding, laundry, light housekeeping).
- Assists patients in taking medications under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. This includes opening a container or pill caddy & handing it to the patient, but does not include administration of the medications.
- Identify and report any abnormal findings or changes in the patient's condition.
- Help with therapy exercises under supervision of our therapists (e.g., range of motion exercises, ambulation assistance).
Additional Essential Functions and Areas of Accountability:
- Know and follow infection control policies including proper hand washing techniques.
- Report any observed or reported changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the Registered Nurse.
- Document care provided and complete all forms required for the client's records. Complete the appropriate records to document cares given and pertinent observations.
- Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following agency guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the Supervisor/Case Manager.
- Demonstrate safe practice in the use of equipment, avoiding equipment use until orientation has been provided. Notifying supervisor(s) of educational needs immediately.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team through verbal reports, participation in staff meetings, and team conferences, as requested and through approved channels in a very timely manner.
- Treat patients and families with respect. Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Accept and fulfill assignments with our agency. Exercise good judgment in accepting assignments.
- Participate in required in-service programs to meet compliance requirements. Identify learning needs to agency supervisor.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
