Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Location: Baltimore MD
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our team. This role is responsible for managing front office operations, including patient registration, insurance verification, billing support, and appointment scheduling. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, a working knowledge of EMR systems, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and register patients, ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information is collected and entered into the EMR system.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary pre-authorizations to support timely and accurate billing.
- Assist with billing inquiries and collaborate with the billing department to resolve outstanding issues.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational standards for quality care and patient confidentiality.
- Answer multi-line phone systems, direct calls appropriately, and respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments, optimizing provider availability and patient flow.
- Support patient check-in and check-out processes, including collection of co-pays and distribution of visit summaries.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and clinical staff, ensuring clear communication and timely follow-up.
- Provide administrative support to office staff as needed, including filing, scanning, and document management.
- Foster a welcoming and respectful environment for patients, families, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office setting, with a focus on patient access, scheduling, or front desk operations.
- Proficiency with EMR systems; EPIC experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of insurance processes, including pre-authorizations and eligibility verification.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in a urology practice is a plus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.
