Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Intern supports the clinical and operational functions of the pharmacy under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The intern assists in patient outreach and medication preparation and helps ensure safe, accurate, and efficient medication dispensing while developing advanced competencies in specialty pharmacy practice. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Complies with FDA mandates and self-imposed manufacturer restrictions.
  2. Performs data entry and triage of prescription clarifications
  3. Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, route of administration, potential drug interactions, and special high-risk patient considerations, warnings/precautions associated with prescribed medication, potential adverse reactions, and stability.
  4. Support pharmacists in monitoring therapy appropriateness, side effects, and clinical outcomes.
  5. Conduct initial and follow-up patient outreach to gather clinical information, assess adherence, and provide education.
  6. Maintains patient/resident medication profile including current and past medications-both prescription and non-prescription, pertinent medical history, clinical/laboratory data, and relevant clinical notes.
  7. Procures and maintains all required documentation in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as ‘AnovoRx’ policy.
  8. Provides empathetic, professional communication to patients and prescribers.
  9. Prepares medications for dispensing, including labeling and packaging.
  10. Conduct end-of-day inventory counts.
  11. Ensure adherence to federal and state pharmacy laws, accreditation standards, and HIPAA requirements.
  12. When AnovoRx has written agreements with manufacturers for pharmacovigilance services, then as to such services: participates in training as required, receives reporters’ call concerning adverse events, product complaints and medical inquiries, completes the submission to the manufacturer and manufacturer designated partners, assists with follow-up as required.
  13. Assist supervisors/managers with projects that may include, but are not limited to, running reports, analyzing data, updating policies and job aids, and presentations.
  14. Always maintain patient confidentiality.
  15. Wears identification while on duty.
  16. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  17. Must work on site a minimum of 10 hours per week, with maximum of 15 hours per week between the hours of 7am-7pm Monday-Friday.
  18. Regular and reliable attendance expected.
  19. Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required

  1. Currently enrolled in an ACPE-accredited PharmD Program as a PY2 or higher
  2. A current unrestricted license or registration/certification, as required by law, must be evidenced.
  3. Strong communication and organizational skills.
  4. Must present professionally on the phone and in person.
  5. Other related minimum expectations
