As part of a growing pharmacy team, you’ll help deliver safe, timely, and accurate pharmaceutical services while working in a collaborative, supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction – Drop-Off Window
- Greet patients, accept new or refill prescriptions, and collect insurance or grant information
- Gather complete information for new patients
- Record patient birthdates on all prescriptions
- Assist with e-scribed prescriptions by documenting appointment/provider details
- Sort prescriptions accurately by type and priority using our color-coded tote system
Prescription Processing – New, Refill & E-scribe
- Accurately fill and label prescriptions in order of priority
- Review patient profiles for medication history, refill timing, and possible interactions
- Adhere to 340B, Homeless Grant, and other program guidelines
- Accurately input prescription data and follow up on any insurance or prescriber issues
- Coordinate with providers or CHIP teams to resolve prescription discrepancies
- Maintain detailed documentation and patient notes with initials and dates
Billing & Documentation
- Handle insurance billing, interpret Medicaid rejection codes, and ensure correct NDC use
- Manage forms for manufacturer assistance programs and free goods
- Remove prescriptions from records when not picked up or dispensed
Telephone & Communication
- Answer phones using a courteous, consistent greeting
- Assist patients directly or direct calls appropriately
- Transfer refill requests and provide follow-up communication as needed
Inventory & Supply Management
- Monitor and restock inventory; order medications and supplies as needed
- Check for and return outdated stock; maintain inventory accuracy in the system
- Maintain clean, organized storage and workspaces
Additional Responsibilities
- Check for expired medications quarterly
- Assist with prior authorizations and provider communications
- Perform routine equipment maintenance (e.g., printer issues)
- Share rotation duties such as monitoring faxes and checking prescription logs
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Active Pharmacy Technician Certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
- Reliable transportation to travel between pharmacy sites as needed.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
