JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Electrician Apprentice

Department: Operations
Reports To: Site Supervisor
Location: PFM Jobsites Guam USA
Employment Type: Apprenticeship (Full-Time)

Summary/Objective:

The Electrician Apprentice assists journeyman electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems. This role involves learning and applying fundamental electrical principles, working with wiring, conduit, and electrical equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and relevant codes. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience through supervised work in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
  • Assist with preparing, reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine wiring layouts and ensure compliance with safety codes.
  • Operate from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to assist with installation, maintenance, or repair tasks.
  • Thread and pull wires through conduits, install conduit, pipes, and tubing, and connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.
  • Test electrical systems, circuits, and equipment using meters, voltmeters, and other diagnostic tools to ensure proper functionality and safety.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems and supporting repairs of faulty wiring, fixtures, and electrical components, and replacing parts as necessary.
  • Plan and lay out electrical installations in accordance with job specifications and relevant building codes.
  • Communicate with team members, supervisors, and other construction personnel to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Provide guidance to junior trainees and assist in training other workers in electrical installation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, estimate material costs, and order necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including digging trenches for conduit, lifting heavy objects, and working from ladders, scaffolds, or confined spaces.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, in alignment with the position's responsibilities, may also be required to support the team and business objectives

Qualification, Competencies and Requirements

  • WORK ELIGIBILITY: Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • AGE: Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • RESIDENCY: Must have resided in Guam for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years prior to entry into the program. A Mayor’s Verification of Residency is required upon hire.
  • COMMITMENT: Must be able to attend a minimum of two (2) classes per week, as specified by the apprenticeship program standards, while maintaining a full-time (40-hour) work schedule with PFM.

Work Environment

  • Work outside in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times
  • Must be willing to work between multiple worksites

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, hourly position. Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, due to operational needs, may be required to work before or after normal hours of operations, on weekends or holidays.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.
