We are partnering with a well-funded, rapidly growing health-tech innovator leading the way in AI-driven digital pathology. The company is revolutionizing tissue diagnostics through virtual staining and advanced analytics, enabling more accurate, scalable, and efficient pathology workflows. As part of their strategic growth, they are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to lead commercial efforts on the East Coast.


Position Summary:

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for generating revenue across both platform sales and custom development solutions, with a strong emphasis on strategic engagement with pharma and biotech clients. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in life sciences business development, particularly within digital pathology, AI, or molecular diagnostics.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Generation: Drive new business and achieve quarterly sales targets across multiple revenue streams. Maintain a qualified pipeline with 3x coverage of forecasted goals.
  • Strategic Account Management: Manage the full sales cycle for both AI Solutions platform offerings and custom development opportunities.
  • Solution Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert, articulating the value of technical solutions to both scientific and business stakeholders.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed on industry trends and competitive activity to identify opportunities and support strategic positioning.
  • Pipeline & Forecast Management: Maintain accurate CRM data and provide regular revenue forecasts. Develop and manage separate pipelines for standard and custom offerings.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers in pharma and biotech, including commercial, clinical, and R&D leaders.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in sales or business development within digital pathology, AI, diagnostics, or related life sciences sectors.
  • Sales Expertise: Demonstrated success in both platform (transactional) and custom (consultative) solution sales.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of AI-based solutions and their application in clinical or research pathology.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to engage and influence executive-level stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Geographic Location: Must reside on the East Coast, ideally between Boston and Philadelphia.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field is required. Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) is strongly preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Highly self-motivated, adaptable to change, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
